Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in television, film and the theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe, the flamboyant lawyer on her role on the Showtime series Soul Food. The actress is known under her maiden name of Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an inclination toward acting since childhood and received the Best Actress award at the Maryland high-school competition. Following her time in acting and in "The Washington Ballet Company", she received an acting certificate from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her first big role. The film was immediately followed by other films like "Boogie Nights Spark, Blue Streak". Soul Food was an immensely well-loved TV show. In addition, she was a part of TV shows like Second Time Around' and Empire. In the past, Parker appeared in many stage productions. Contractor Born at Mumbai in India and grew up in Nigeria through the age of seven. She'd been exposed to numerous travel experiences and other cultures since a young age. She went to boarding school from the age of 7 to 9 in London. Later, she and her family relocated home to Toronto (Canada) where they spent her entire childhood. Contractor trained in classical ballet in Toronto. Additionally, she excelled academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts - a specialized arts high school that taught more than just dance but also theatre. Contractor began acting at age 16, following nearly 10 years in dance. After graduating high school, she was awarded a full grant to attend at the University of Toronto, where she completed a masters degree in the field of theatre, and a double major in sociology and psychology. Following a semester at the University, Contractor went to an open audition for the play Pericles at the prestigious famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the leading role. The play was well-received in the 92 plays that she performed in. She won the 2002 award for the most outstanding production of the Year by Canadian critics. The conservatory at Stratford is home to eight males as well as four females along with a couple of other people for a 20 weeks of crash courses. Contractor's participation in the next season's production was confirmed. She got the part of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
